Secondary Teaching Assistant

About the role

A mainstream secondary school in Horsham is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs. You will join a well‑run establishment with experienced staff and have the chance to develop your skills in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside teachers, therapists and other support staff to deliver tailored learning activities.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are safe and appropriate for pupil use.
• Prepare and tidy learning resources and activities.
• Break down reading and writing tasks to make them manageable for students.
• Provide pastoral and behavioural support as required.
• Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately.

Required profile

• A genuine desire to work with children with special educational needs.
• Caring, compassionate and resilient nature with a proactive, ‘can‑do’ attitude.
• Eligibility to obtain a DBS check and not be barred from working with children.
• Minimum GCSE grades A*‑C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
