Section Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Section Engineer to join our Natural Resources team on the Thames Water wastewater site in Harpenden. You will act as the primary technical adviser on‑site, ensuring that construction works align with design specifications and project standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives.
• Interpret design documentation and ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Support construction teams with technical queries, resolve design conflicts, and drive value‑engineering initiatives.
• Manage and coordinate temporary works designs and approvals in line with site requirements and programme.
• Monitor and record construction progress and provide accurate technical input for project reporting and planning.
• Provide engineering support across the project to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Bridge the gap between design and construction, delivering technical input to meet safety, schedule and quality standards.

Required profile

• Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent in civil, mechanical, electrical or related engineering discipline.
• CSCS and SMSTS Card holder.
• Experience in a civil engineering or construction environment, preferably within the water sector.
• Full driving licence.
