Security Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Security Officer to protect the Co‑op retail store in Whitley Bay. You will safeguard customers, staff and assets by delivering security services in line with the site’s Assignment Instructions and relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and protect the store premises, customers and assets according to published Assignment Instructions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, UK legal and regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Report health and safety hazards and any security threats promptly.
• Maintain and wear a valid front‑line licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) and a CCTV PSS SIA licence at all times.
• Complete all required competency training and any additional contract‑specific courses.
• Renew licences at least 16 weeks before expiry and keep certifications up to date.

Required profile

• Valid front‑line security licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision).
• Valid CCTV PSS SIA licence.
• Willingness to work 40 hours per week and cover sickness or holiday shifts for the Newcastle store team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to safety procedures.

Required skills

• CCTV operation and monitoring.
