Security Team Leader – Campus Security

About the role

We are looking for proactive and resilient Security Team Leaders to join the Estates & Security team at Bath Spa University. Reporting to the Security Manager, you will lead a team of Security Officers and ensure a safe, welcoming environment across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support a team of Security Officers, maintaining high standards of professionalism and customer service.
• Oversee day‑to‑day security operations including patrols, building access, alarm response and campus safety.
• Take charge during operational and critical incidents, managing response and communication.
• Manage team performance, deliver training, briefings and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety and SIA requirements.
• Maintain operational equipment and promote an inclusive team culture focused on staff development and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading security teams and managing performance.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and delegate.
• GCSE level education (or equivalent) and a full UK manual driving licence.
• Willingness to hold a current SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV Operator licence (training provided).
• Experience handling incidents involving welfare, vulnerability or safeguarding.
• Residency within a reasonable commuting distance to the campus for 12‑hour rotating shifts.
