SEMH & Behavioural Mentor (Part‑time, Southwark)

About the role

This part‑time position supports young people in Southwark to re‑engage with learning, build emotional resilience and develop essential life skills within a safe, structured environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver bespoke intervention sessions that support emotional wellbeing, resilience and re‑engagement.
• Build consistent, trusting relationships with young people.
• Implement self‑regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour and confidence.
• Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure cohesive support.
• Track and report progress in emotional development and engagement.

Required profile

• Experience working with SEMH or similar behavioural/emotional needs.
• Ability to build rapport quickly and create a safe learning space.
• Calm, nurturing and patient approach to managing behaviour and emotional dysregulation.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Required skills

• Training in de‑escalation techniques (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA).
• Knowledge of restorative practice and trauma‑informed approaches.
