SEMH Class Teacher – Support Vulnerable Learners

About the role
This position is for an SEMH Class Teacher in a specialist school in Walsall, supporting pupils who face social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will work within a small, highly supported class environment, helping students re‑engage with education and achieve personal and academic success.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for small SEMH classes.
- Create a calm, structured and nurturing classroom atmosphere.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
- Manage challenging behaviour using consistent, positive strategies.
- Collaborate closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and external agencies.
- Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and personal development.
- Assess, monitor and record pupil progress.
Required profile
- Resilient and compassionate with a genuine desire to help vulnerable young people.
- Excellent classroom management and patience.
- Commitment to supporting each pupil to reach their potential.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
