SEMH Specialist Learning Assistant – SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 5)

About the role
We are looking for a compassionate SEMH Specialist Learning Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Year 5 pupil with behavioural and social needs. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, you will help create a structured, nurturing environment that promotes academic progress and positive peer relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver consistent 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s individual requirements.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and assist with emotional regulation.
- Facilitate positive interactions between the pupil and classmates.
- Adapt learning activities to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Monitor progress and share relevant feedback with staff and parents.
Required profile
- Experience working with children who have special educational needs, especially behavioural and social challenges.
- Patience, resilience, empathy and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school team.
- Proactive approach to inclusion and relationship building.
