SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, Southwark

About the role

We are looking for a resilient and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Southwark. You will work with pupils aged 5‑16 who have social, emotional and mental health needs, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help them regulate emotions, manage behaviour and engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Implement and monitor behaviour‑management strategies in line with school policies.
• Assist teachers and pastoral staff in creating a structured, supportive learning environment.
• Promote emotional wellbeing and positive relationships with pupils.
• Contribute to record‑keeping and progress monitoring for each pupil.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural challenges.
• Confidence in applying behaviour‑management and emotional‑regulation techniques.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils presenting challenging behaviour.
• Resilient, proactive and able to start immediately on a full‑time basis.
