SEMH Teaching Assistant

About the role

A well‑regarded primary school in Camden is seeking a confident and resilient Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a KS2 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This long‑term, full‑time contractor position starts as soon as possible and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on a child's development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 support to a pupil with anxiety, emotional regulation and behaviour challenges.
• Implement agreed behaviour‑support strategies and daily routines.
• Build a trusting relationship with the pupil to encourage positive engagement.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external agencies.
• Facilitate the pupil’s access to learning and promote active participation.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children who have SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Resilient, patient and consistent approach.
• Confident in managing behaviour within a classroom setting.
• Positive, proactive attitude and strong communication skills.
