SEMH Teaching Assistant (Key Stage 2) – Ribble Valley

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one SEMH support to a Key Stage 2 pupil in a primary school located in the Ribble Valley. The role starts in September 2026 and runs on a full‑time, temporary basis, Monday to Friday, 09:00‑15:00.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personalised support to the pupil, focusing on emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the school day.
- Provide targeted interventions in Maths and Literacy to help the pupil meet curriculum expectations.
- Build a trusting, positive relationship with the child, encouraging confidence and independence.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
- Monitor progress, record observations and share feedback with the teaching team.
Required profile
- Experience working with children who have SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
- Previous exposure to a primary school environment is desirable.
- Strong numeracy and literacy abilities.
- Patient, resilient and nurturing attitude.
- Passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
Required skills
- Ability to deliver one‑to‑one academic interventions in Maths and Literacy.
- Effective communication and relationship‑building with pupils and staff.
