SEMH Teaching Assistant – Part‑time (Tue‑Thu)

About the role

This part‑time position supports a specialist SEMH College Centre in Kirkham, Lancashire. You will work three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) helping young people with social, emotional and mental health needs to re‑engage with learning and develop emotional regulation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for students with SEMH needs.
• Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery and differentiated activities.
• Apply positive behaviour support and de‑escalation strategies.
• Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
• Support learners academically and emotionally to re‑engage with education.

Required profile

• Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs in schools, colleges, PRUs, care or youth‑work settings.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).
• TA qualification desirable but not essential.
