SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school setting, providing dedicated support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. The role involves close collaboration with teachers, the SEND team and parents to create a stable, nurturing environment where children can thrive academically and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs on a daily basis.
• Build trusting, positive relationships with each child.
• Implement emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Deliver structured 1:1 interventions and targeted support.
• Encourage confidence, resilience and independence.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and SENCOs.

Required profile

• Recent (within 2 years) UK primary school experience.
• Proven experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural challenges.
• Strong behaviour management abilities.
• Calm, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Genuine passion for helping children succeed.
