SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support primary‑school pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to help children regulate emotions, engage with learning and develop resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group SEMH support.
• Implement individual behaviour and support strategies.
• Assist pupils during transitions and unstructured periods.
• Support pupils to engage with classroom learning.
• Record observations and share feedback with relevant staff.
• Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils.

Required profile

• Recent experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
• Experience in a UK school or similar child‑focused environment.
• Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Consistent response to challenging behaviour.
• Good understanding of safeguarding.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
