About the role
Seeking a patient and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11‑16 within a specialist SEMH setting in Lambeth, London. The school, judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2023, is within walking distance of a London Underground station and provides a structured, supportive environment focused on wellbeing and re‑engagement with education.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and de‑escalation techniques.
- Support emotional regulation and promote confidence and resilience.
- Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to facilitate learning.
- Encourage re‑engagement with education and monitor progress.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs.
- Experience in a SEMH school, PRU or alternative provision is desirable.
- Confidence in managing behaviour, emotional regulation and learning.
- Ability to build positive relationships and work full‑time immediately.
