SEMH Teaching Assistant – Sports Support (Full‑Time)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports primary and secondary pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs through structured sport and physical activity. You will use your passion for sport to help students regulate emotions, build social skills and improve wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily sports sessions that promote emotional regulation and physical health.
• Facilitate team‑building games, outdoor learning and group activities.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support both inside and outside the classroom.
• Develop trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a consistent role model.
• Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.

Required profile

• At least 24 months of continuous employment history with no large unexplained gaps.
• Enhanced Child DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Resilient, proactive and positive attitude.
• Strong communication and behaviour‑management abilities.
• Genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs.
