About the role
We are partnering with a welcoming school in Waltham Forest to hire a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant. The role starts in September 2026 and runs full‑time until July 2027, providing vital support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create inclusive learning experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Provide tailored one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help pupils engage with learning.
- Build trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and confidence.
- Collaborate with teachers and the pastoral team to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Celebrate and record every pupil achievement, big or small.
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt support strategies accordingly.
Required profile
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or SEN, or a recent graduate eager to gain school‑based experience.
- Patient, resilient and able to stay calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team player.
- Passionate about helping children succeed academically and personally.
Required skills
- No specific technical skills required.
