SEMH Teaching Assistant – Support Young People in Dunstable

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Dunstable. You will work directly with young people who have social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them build confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Help students regulate emotions, develop positive behaviours and engage confidently in learning.
- Build trusting relationships that promote confidence and resilience.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and external professionals to support individual learning plans.
- Assist with behaviour strategies and interventions to enable pupils to achieve their full potential.
Required profile
- Passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Resilient, compassionate and committed to helping learners overcome barriers.
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, youth worker, residential support worker, or relevant voluntary work.
- Graduates in psychology, criminology, education or related fields are welcome.
