SEMH Tutor for Year 8 Student (Home‑based & School Support)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate SEMH Tutor to support a Year 8 student with high anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). The role begins with home‑based sessions focused on building trust and emotional regulation, then gradually introduces academic tuition and school‑based support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a strong, consistent relationship with the young person.
• Identify early signs of anxiety, distress, and dysregulation.
• Co‑create personalised emotional regulation strategies.
• Adapt daily sessions to the child’s emotional state.
• Deliver child‑centred English and Maths tuition once trust is established.
• Collaborate with family, school, and other professionals.
• Support a carefully planned reintegration pathway back into mainstream education.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience in an educational setting.
• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs and high anxiety.
• Highly flexible and able to adapt plans daily.
