SEMH Tutor – Support Children in Crisis

About the role

Randstad Student Support is looking for compassionate SEMH Tutors to provide one‑to‑one support for children in crisis and local authority care. You will combine academic mentorship with emotional regulation techniques to help young people rebuild confidence and trust.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver bespoke 1:1 tutoring sessions that balance curriculum teaching with emotional support.
• Apply trauma‑informed approaches to safely de‑escalate challenging moments.
• Support pupils in developing self‑esteem and effective coping strategies.
• Collaborate with local authorities, providing feedback on progress and milestones.
• Maintain accurate records of each child’s development and outcomes.

Required profile

• Experienced educator or tutor with a strong background in SEMH, EBD, or trauma‑informed care.
• Calm, resilient presence with proven behaviour‑management abilities.
• Experience in alternative provision, youth justice, or residential care settings.
• Commitment to persisting with children after difficult days.
