Semi Senior Accountant – Benfleet

About the role

We are seeking a Semi Senior Accountant to join a well‑established accountancy practice in Benfleet. Working alongside an experienced Relationship Manager, you will support a diverse portfolio of clients across accounts, tax, payroll, VAT, bookkeeping and management accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual accounts, personal and business tax returns, management accounts and VAT returns.
• Process payroll and maintain accurate bookkeeping records.
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information and nurture relationships.
• Complete VAT and PAYE registrations and set up bookkeeping software for new clients.
• Ensure all client work is delivered accurately, efficiently and within commercial timescales.

Required profile

• AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
• Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Proven experience preparing accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, payroll or bookkeeping.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
