Semi Senior Accountant

About the role

Purely Personnel Limited is seeking a qualified Semi Senior Accountant to join its rapidly expanding practice in Braintree. The role offers a blend of client‑facing work and team leadership within a supportive, semi‑hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of SME clients across multiple industries.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and VAT returns.
• Produce management accounts and deliver proactive business advice.
• Supervise, support and review the work of junior team members.
• Maintain strong client relationships and liaise with HMRC and other third parties.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA).
• Previous experience in a UK private practice accounting firm.
• Proven ability to manage a client portfolio independently.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office.
