Semi Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Semi Senior Accountant to join our friendly, growing practice in Leigh‑on‑Sea. You will work with a diverse client portfolio, develop your technical expertise and take on increasing responsibility in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile purchase and sales ledgers.
• Perform nominal ledger reconciliations.
• Process payroll and handle CIS returns.
• Assist senior accountants with client accounts and general practice work.
• Support a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and the ability to manage workload effectively.
• Desirable: AAT qualification or ACA/ACCA progress, or Qualified by Experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Sage, Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud accounting software.
• Experience with purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll processing and CIS returns.
