SEN Cover Supervisor – South Gloucestershire (Part‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time SEN Cover Supervisor to work in South Gloucestershire schools. The role involves supervising classes during teacher absences, delivering pre‑set work and providing targeted support to pupils with special educational needs. Working hours are during school time.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes during short‑term teacher absence, maintaining a calm and structured environment.
• Deliver pre‑planned learning activities and ensure pupils stay on task.
• Provide differentiated support for SEN pupils, adapting approaches as needed.
• Prepare students for tasks through pre‑teaching and support practical activities.
• Record progress, assist with support plans and carry out classroom observations.
• Follow lesson plans and work independently under direction of senior staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
• Degree‑level qualification (relevant teaching or SEN qualification desirable).
• Strong classroom behaviour management using positive behaviour support strategies.
• Excellent communication, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
• Ability to work independently and follow set lesson plans.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN support planning and implementation.
• Ability to adapt teaching resources to individual needs.
