SEN English Intervention Teacher – Literacy Support

About the role
A reputable independent school in Horsham is looking for a dedicated SEN English Intervention Teacher to work from the school library. The role supports literacy development across the school and works closely with the Senior Literacy Lead, who is transitioning to a reduced schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Assess students' reading and comprehension skills on a regular basis.
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve reading ability and foster a love of reading.
- Identify pupils needing additional support and help them access the curriculum.
- Provide assistance with reading, writing, and broader learning skills.
- Support development of working memory, spelling, emotional literacy, turn‑taking, fine motor, organisation and relational skills.
- Collaborate with the Head of Therapy to arrange independent dyslexia assessments where needed.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with children or young people.
- Preferably experience supporting SEN, neurodiversity or SEMH learners.
- Patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with students.
- Strong communication and organisational abilities.
- Enthusiastic about promoting literacy in a creative and engaging way.
