SEN Functional Skills Tutor (KS3) – Full‑time

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Functional Skills Tutor to join a vibrant school in Crawley. The role starts in September and is a permanent, full‑time position (Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑5:00 pm) working with a small KS3 class of pupils who are at least two years behind national expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored educational activities to up to 8 pupils with special educational needs, focusing on Functional Skills Level Awards.
• Design and implement engaging lesson plans that accommodate individual learning styles.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching methods and materials as needed.
• Collaborate with fellow staff, parents and external agencies to support pupil development and well‑being.
• Create a supportive, inclusive and safe learning environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an SEN teacher, preferably within a KS3 setting.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by pupils significantly behind national expectations.
• Ability to develop and adapt teaching materials and assessments for varied abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient approach to teaching.
