SEN Learning Mentor – Teaching Assistant for Primary Pupils

About the role

Reed Education is seeking enthusiastic graduates to join a specialist primary provision in Plymouth as a SEN Learning Mentor. The role supports children aged 4‑11 with additional needs, helping them build confidence, emotional awareness and foundational academic skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support tailored to individual learning needs.
• Assist with early reading, writing and numeracy activities.
• Help pupils manage emotions and behaviours positively.
• Promote independence, confidence and social interaction.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a structured, engaging learning environment.

Required profile

• Recent graduate from any discipline with a genuine interest in child development.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Calm, patient and caring approach.
• Positive attitude, flexibility and proactive mindset.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of SEN, SEMH or related educational concepts (as provided in training).
