SEN Learning Support Assistant – Further Education College

About the role

Join a vibrant further‑education college in South East London as a SEN Learning Support Assistant. You will work directly with learners who have Special Educational Needs, helping them access programmes, develop independent study skills and achieve their educational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with teaching staff and support coordinators to ensure learners can access college services, programmes and activities.
• Support learners in meeting the outcomes set out in their Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs) while fostering self‑advocacy and independent learning.
• Provide personal care, supervision and dignity for students with physical, medical or mobility needs.
• Identify potential barriers to learning, devise proactive interventions and contribute to person‑centred support plans and progress reviews.
• Act as a designated College First Aider, delivering first‑aid duties when required.
• Maintain effective communication with internal teams, external agencies, parents and key workers to ensure holistic care.

Required profile

• Good standard of general education with at least Level 2 Maths and English (or a clear willingness to achieve these qualifications).
• Willingness to obtain and hold a valid First Aid certificate.
• Outgoing, approachable demeanor with strong communication skills.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and student well‑being.
