SEN Learning Support Assistant & Literacy Support (Sept Start)

About the role

Reed Education is partnering with a specialist school near Horsham to recruit Learning Support Assistants and a Literacy Support professional for a September start. The school serves pupils aged 5‑18 with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD and SEMH/trauma‑related needs, and offers a therapeutic, nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted reading and comprehension interventions in the school library (Literacy Support role).
• Support pupils in spelling, organisation, working memory and emotional literacy.
• Screen for additional needs such as dyslexia.
• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to primary and secondary students.
• Encourage engagement, positive behaviour and access to learning.
• Work within a structured, therapeutic setting to build confidence and independence.

Required profile

• Passion for supporting children with SEN.
• Patient, resilient and enthusiastic attitude.
• Commitment to a long‑term career in a specialist setting.
• Relevant literacy or intervention experience for the HLTA role.
