About the role
We are seeking a compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist therapeutic education setting. The role involves supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH and other barriers to learning, helping them achieve academic and emotional growth.
Key responsibilities
- Support children and young people with Autism, SEMH needs and other additional learning needs.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance.
- Help students access personalised learning programmes.
- Support emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider team.
Required profile
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Strong communicator and team player.
- Interested in understanding behaviour and its underlying reasons.
- Committed to helping young people develop academically, socially and emotionally.
- Previous experience with Autism, SEMH or behavioural needs is beneficial, though attitude and transferable skills are highly valued.
