About the role
We are looking for a dedicated SEN Maths Teacher to join a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) setting in Ellesmere Port. You will support students with diverse needs, delivering engaging mathematics lessons while fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated maths lessons tailored to SEMH students.
- Create and adapt individual learning plans to match varied abilities.
- Use a range of teaching techniques and resources to deepen mathematical understanding.
- Monitor progress with assessment tools, provide feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with SENCOs, support staff, parents and guardians to build a holistic support system.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to encourage self‑regulation.
- Maintain accurate records of achievement, attendance and behaviour, and produce required reports.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Specialisation in Mathematics with strong subject knowledge.
- Experience working with SEMH or other SEN students, either in mainstream or specialist settings.
- Familiarity with GCSE exam boards and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
- Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
