SEN Maths Teacher

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Maths Teacher to join a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) setting in Ellesmere Port. You will support students with diverse needs, delivering engaging mathematics lessons while fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated maths lessons tailored to SEMH students.
• Create and adapt individual learning plans to match varied abilities.
• Use a range of teaching techniques and resources to deepen mathematical understanding.
• Monitor progress with assessment tools, provide feedback and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with SENCOs, support staff, parents and guardians to build a holistic support system.
• Implement behaviour management strategies to encourage self‑regulation.
• Maintain accurate records of achievement, attendance and behaviour, and produce required reports.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Specialisation in Mathematics with strong subject knowledge.
• Experience working with SEMH or other SEN students, either in mainstream or specialist settings.
• Familiarity with GCSE exam boards and specifications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
