SEN Provision Teaching Assistant – Newham – Full‑time, £95‑£120 Daily

About the role

This full‑time, long‑term position starts in September within a specialist SEN provision at a primary school in Newham. You will support pupils with complex special educational needs and disabilities, helping them access the curriculum, develop independence and achieve personal targets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with autism, communication difficulties and learning disabilities.
• Deliver personal care safely and respectfully when required.
• Implement tailored learning programmes and assist with therapeutic and sensory activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement throughout the school day.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to ensure high‑quality care and education.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience working with children who have complex SEND.
• Comfortable providing personal care and supporting independence.
• Resilient, patient and proactive with a genuine passion for special education.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Ability to deliver personal care safely and respectfully.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with pupils, staff and families.
• Knowledge of strategies for supporting autism, communication challenges and learning disabilities.
