SEN Science Teacher

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Science Teacher to join our specialist SEMH setting in Birkenhead. The role involves delivering engaging science lessons and supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated science lessons tailored to SEMH pupils.
• Create and update individualised learning plans.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes wellbeing.
• Use a variety of teaching resources and assessment tools to track progress.
• Collaborate with SENCOs, support staff and families to provide holistic support.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and support self‑regulation.
• Record attendance, achievement and behaviour, producing required reports.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Science specialisation with strong subject knowledge.
• Experience working with SEMH or other special educational needs settings.
• Familiarity with GCSE exam boards and specifications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
