SEN Science Teacher

About the role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Science Teacher for an independent SEMH school in Totton, Hampshire. The role starts in September 2026 and supports KS3 and KS4 pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs and additional learning difficulties.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons tailored to individual pupil needs across KS3 and KS4.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet SEMH requirements and encourage positive engagement.
• Maintain a safe, tidy and stimulating learning environment.
• Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, carers and colleagues.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Science at secondary level.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Desirable experience working with SEN/SEMH pupils.
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (within the last year).
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

Required skills

• Science curriculum knowledge for KS3 and KS4.
