SEN Support Assistant – Diabetes & Behaviour Specialist

About the role
This part‑time, morning‑only position supports a pupil with complex medical and behavioural needs in a Plymouth school. You will work one‑to‑one, ensuring safety, health management and emotional regulation throughout the session.
Key responsibilities
- Provide consistent one‑to‑one support during morning sessions.
- Monitor and manage medical needs, including diabetes care and medication administration.
- Implement behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation.
- Ensure pupil safety, responding promptly to any attempts to leave supervised areas.
- Collaborate with school staff and follow individual care and behaviour plans.
Required profile
- Medical training with experience in diabetes management.
- Strong experience supporting pupils with challenging or complex behaviour.
- Physically fit and able to respond quickly to safety incidents.
- Calm, patient, resilient with a positive and consistent approach.
- Previous SEN experience is highly desirable; DBS on the update service is advantageous.
