SEN Support Assistant – Primary Inclusion Hub (Chelmsford)

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join a mainstream primary school inclusion hub in Chelmsford from September. The role focuses on providing one‑to‑one support for pupils with additional needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 support to pupils with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Assist children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in both hub and classroom settings.
- Collaborate closely with the SENCO and the wider inclusion team.
- Support behavioural, emotional and learning interventions within the hub and classroom.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN, especially ASD.
- Strong background in one‑to‑one support.
- Calm, patient and adaptable approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Understanding of EHCPs and tailored support strategies.
- Passionate about inclusive education and willing to undertake required safeguarding training and DBS checks.
Required skills
What we offer
- Hourly rate between £13.98 and £16.20, inclusive of statutory holiday pay.
- Full‑time, likely term‑time contract with the possibility of becoming permanent.
- Free online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training.
- Support with DBS checks and ongoing professional development.
