SEN Teacher – Fixed-Term Cover (Fareham)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Fareham, Hampshire, from September 2026. This fixed‑term role covers a long‑term staff absence and supports pupils aged 3‑11 with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with individual EHCP outcomes.
• Create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external professionals.
• Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress effectively.
• Support pupils' communication, social, emotional, and personal development.

Required profile

• Passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Patient, resilient, and adaptable.
• Committed to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.

Required skills

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Knowledge of strategies for Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties.
• Understanding of EHCPs and person‑centred approaches.
• Up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake).
