SEN Teacher for KS1 Autism & SLD – Full‑Time, Islington

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a warm and supportive team in a specialist school in Islington. This exciting role is to teach a lovely KS1 class of students with ASD and SLD, following a sensory curriculum. The class is settled, with no behavioural challenges, and you will benefit from strong and consistent classroom support.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and mentor small groups of KS1 students, delivering a sensory‑based curriculum tailored to individual learning styles.
• Support students in class, group and 1:1 situations, keeping them on task, motivated and engaged.
• Establish strong, supportive relationships and promote confidence, self‑esteem and independence.
• Undertake break and lunchtime duties, providing additional support for pupils with ASD.
• Collaborate with the SENDCO, HLTA and TA team to deliver outstanding provision and manage timetabling.
• Line‑manage and mentor support staff, update SEND student profiles and contribute to intervention reviews.
• Act as a tutor, monitoring academic progress and emotional well‑being of a small group of students.

Required profile

• Available to start in a full‑time capacity from September.
• Proven experience working in SEN, ideally with KS1/primary‑aged students.
• Confident in teaching a sensory‑based curriculum.
• Able to commute to Islington.
• Willing to commit to a long‑term permanent role.
