SEN Teacher (KS3 & KS4) – Full-Time

About the role
Our client is a specialist independent school in Burnley supporting 11‑16 year olds with a range of additional needs. They are looking for a passionate SEN Teacher to deliver a differentiated KS3 and KS4 curriculum on a term‑time only, full‑time basis.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons across core and foundation subjects for KS3 and KS4 pupils.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN needs and learning abilities.
- Develop and implement personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
- Create a safe, structured, inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals.
- Support pupils' communication, independence, confidence, and social development.
- Use positive behaviour strategies and trauma‑informed approaches to support learning outcomes.
Required profile
- QTS or QTLS (essential).
- Experience working with KS3 and KS4 pupils with SEN in mainstream or specialist settings.
- Strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and learning needs.
- Ability to differentiate effectively and deliver engaging lessons across a broad curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
- Commitment to inclusive education and pupil‑centred learning.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain).
