SEN Teacher – Primary/Maintstream with SEND Experience

About the role

Protocol Education is seeking an experienced Primary or SEND teacher to join a specialist school in Chelmsford. The school works primarily with pupils who have autism and severe, profound, or complex needs. The role is initially temporary with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tailored lessons for students with special educational needs.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support individual learning plans.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with each child to promote progress.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessment processes.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
• Experience teaching in primary or SEND settings.
• Positive, friendly approach with the ability to quickly establish rapport.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare standards.

Required skills

• Understanding of autism and complex special educational needs.
• Ability to work effectively within a team of professionals.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
