SEN Teacher – Specialist Autism & Learning Difficulties

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate SEN Teacher to join an Outstanding specialist school in Sutton. You will work with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and moderate to severe learning difficulties, delivering highly structured, personalised learning that supports independence and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to ASD and learning needs.
• Implement visual supports, TEACCH approaches, PECS and visual timetables.
• Support pupils with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory needs.
• Monitor academic and life‑skills progress and adjust teaching strategies.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and external professionals such as SALT and OT.
• Create a calm, predictable and nurturing classroom environment.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience working with pupils with ASD and/or learning difficulties.
• Understanding of autism‑specific strategies and approaches.
• Patient, resilient and nurturing teaching style.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Based in or within commuting distance of Sutton.
