SEN Teacher – Year 5/6 (Early Years to Year 1)

About the role

This full‑time contract role is based in a specialist SEN school in Enfield, teaching a small Year 5/6 class where pupils are working at Early Years to Year 1 developmental levels. The successful teacher will deliver a highly differentiated curriculum focused on sensory, communication and social‑emotional development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons for a Year 5/6 class with pupils at Early Years‑Year 1 levels.
• Implement a sensory‑rich, communication‑focused curriculum tailored to individual needs.
• Support pupils’ communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and other multidisciplinary staff.
• Use or develop knowledge of communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, visual timetables and AAC.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching pupils with special educational needs, particularly autism and complex learning needs.
• Patient, adaptable, compassionate and passionate about inclusive education.
• Strong classroom management and ability to differentiate learning effectively.
• Available to start in September and able to interview immediately.
