SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for Autistic Student

About the role
The Supply Register is looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a student with autism, ADHD and additional needs at Sylvester Primary Academy in Liverpool. This full‑time, long‑term position focuses on helping the learner access lessons, regulate emotions and develop independence.
Key responsibilities
- Provide dedicated one‑to‑one assistance to the student during classroom activities.
- Use calm, proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviour and support emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored interventions and support plans.
- Record observations and contribute to the student’s progress documentation.
- Foster a safe, inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and resilience.
Required profile
- Experience working with children who have SEN, particularly autism, ADHD or behavioural needs.
- Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation abilities.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and remain calm under pressure.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., TA, SEN, behaviour training) are desirable but not essential.
