SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for Special Needs Pupils

About the role
This full‑time, fixed‑term position is based in a welcoming primary school in Tower Hamlets, East London. You will work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who has Special Educational Needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop social and emotional skills, and build confidence throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, following their EHCP targets.
- Implement personalised learning strategies in line with the class teacher and SENCO.
- Encourage independence, positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Support learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 as required.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, parents and external professionals.
- Help the pupil develop communication, social and confidence‑building skills.
Required profile
- Minimum of 1 year experience supporting children in a school setting.
- Experience with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or related behavioural needs.
- Strong behaviour‑management and relationship‑building abilities.
- Calm, resilient, proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
