SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for Year 7 Student

About the role
Prospero Teaching, in partnership with an Ofsted‑rated Outstanding secondary school, is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a male student transitioning into Year 7. The role involves assisting a pupil with Global Learning Delay and Emotional Development Delay throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities
- Provide continuous 1:1 support during lessons, transitions and break times.
- Assist with personal care needs as required.
- Support the student’s academic, social and emotional development.
- Build a trusting, positive relationship to promote independence and confidence.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
- Encourage engagement in learning activities and school life.
Required profile
- Previous experience in SEN, support work, care or residential settings.
- Comfortable providing personal care.
- Patience, empathy and resilience.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Commitment to helping students reach their full potential.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete registration and compliance processes.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and professional references.
