About the role
We are seeking caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for inclusive primary schools in Harborne (B17) for the academic year starting September 2026. You will help pupils with additional needs thrive academically and socially.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEN.
- Support children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs.
- Implement strategies to improve behaviour and engagement.
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Required profile
- Experience supporting children with SEN in schools or child‑focused settings.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient.
- Experience working on a 1:1 basis or with small intervention groups.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Relevant qualification (desirable but not essential).
Required skills
- Personal care.
- Behaviour support.
- Makaton.
- PECS.
- Team Teach or similar interventions.
