SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Long‑Term, East London)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with moderate special educational needs in schools across East London. This long‑term position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on children’s learning journeys within a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 assistance to pupils with moderate SEN, both in‑class and during extracurricular activities.
• Support learning objectives, encourage independence and foster confidence.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to implement individual learning plans.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to an inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to school staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs.
• Experience of 1:1 support is highly desirable.
• Patient, caring and resilient attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
