SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Year 4)

About the role

We are seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Year 4 pupil at The Sylvester Primary School. This role focuses on helping the child develop confidence, social skills and academic progress within an inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver dedicated 1:1 assistance to a pupil with additional learning needs.
• Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt lessons and resources to the pupil’s requirements.
• Support the pupil’s social, emotional and academic development.
• Promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere that reflects the school’s caring values.
• Assist with behaviour management when necessary.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or SEN setting.
• Understanding of supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or other learning difficulties.
• Compassionate, patient and proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

Required skills

• Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with autism spectrum disorder, attention‑deficit/hyperactivity disorder, social‑emotional and mental health needs, or learning difficulties.
