SEN Teaching Assistant (Ages 4-16) – Full‑Time

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 4‑16 in a specialist school in Knowsley, Liverpool. You will work closely with teachers and a multidisciplinary team to create an inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs both in class and during individual or small‑group sessions.
• Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons across the curriculum.
• Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
• Promote independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
• Manage behaviour using positive, consistent strategies.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, parents and external professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience with children or young people who have SEN is desirable.
• Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH and speech, language and communication difficulties.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
