SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Specialist (Bristol)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils on the autism spectrum. The role is based in Bristol and runs during school hours, offering part‑time or full‑time options depending on school needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated learning activities tailored to the needs of autistic pupils.
• Support students to achieve their academic potential and build confidence.
• Maintain records, monitor progress and contribute to individual support plans.
• Prepare students for tasks through pre‑teaching and provide supervision during practical activities.
• Carry out structured classroom observations and provide feedback.
• Assist with physical, speech, language or medical needs as outlined in approved care plans.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent SEN/Autism credentials.
• Demonstrated experience working with children and young people on the autism spectrum.
• Strong understanding of special educational needs and inclusive practice.

Required skills

• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder characteristics and interventions.
• Ability to plan and adapt learning activities.
• Record‑keeping and progress‑monitoring competence.
