SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a disciplined SEN Teaching Assistant with specialist experience in Autism to join a well‑organised school in Rawmarsh, Rotherham. You will provide structured, consistent support to pupils with Autism, helping them stay regulated, engaged and make progress in a high‑expectation environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions aligned with individual EHCP targets.
• Maintain clear routines, visual schedules and consistent classroom expectations.
• Apply calm, firm strategies to support emotional regulation and focus.
• Accurately record academic, behavioural and social development.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, behaviour teams and external specialists.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting pupils with Autism in SEN or specialist settings.
• Strong, direct communication style and confident behaviour management.
• Understanding of EHCPs, sensory strategies and autism‑specific interventions.
• Proactive, organised and resilient approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EHCP processes.
• Familiarity with visual schedules and sensory regulation techniques.
